SEA Studio Takes Home the Award for Best Modern Architecture

The Rehoboth House in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware designed by Scott Edmonston, AIA of SEA Studio Architects received the 2017 award for Best Modern Architecture from the Delaware Today Home Design Contest.

The annual design competition recognizes work by Delaware architects, designers and contractors. Submitted projects are judged by a panel of architects and industry experts who select finalists in twelve categories. Winners in each category were announced during a ceremony on November 14th at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Rehoboth Beach house was designed for a site near Gordon's Pond to protect the existing trees on the site while letting abundant natural light into the living spaces. The glass-enclosed dining space separates the living areas from the bedroom spaces allowing the dining area to function as a four-season room so that meals can be enjoyed in the open air when the weather is pleasant. The design of the house allows it to be a net-zero energy use building through the use of passive heating and cooling, day-lighting, super insulated walls and more. The panels of judges recognized the design for it's warm, natural light and contemporary detailing.

At SEA Studio Architects, we are committed to designing beautiful, comfortable and energy-efficient places to live and work.
