Camp Bobb is designed for an extended family of twenty people on the site of the family’s original beach cottage in a gated Bethany Beach, Delaware neighborhood. The program called for ten bedrooms suites including 4 master suites and two bunk rooms to make room for guests and huge living spaces where the whole family could hang out together.

With such a large program, the biggest challenge that the design team faced was to provide all of the spaces the family needed within an envelope that felt smaller and less imposing than it really is. To make the task all the more challenging, the neighborhood zoning code limits the average roof height to 35 feet above grade. The three gables of the front elevation and the 12:12 roof pitches make the house feel less massive than it is by breaking down the mass and increasing the building’s height.
